Licensed Clinical Psychologist PSY33606
Sahil Sharma, PsyD
I am a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in trauma, acculturation issues, the immigrant experience, and multicultural identity development. I received my PsyD from The Wright Institute and trained in largely community mental-health and school-based settings. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at Richmond Area Multi-Services (RAMS, Inc.) in San Francisco.
I approach therapy through a relational psychodynamic lens, which means that I view mental health and well-being as being deeply interconnected with our relationships, experiences, and cultural identities. Each individual seeks therapy for unique reasons and carries a complex personal history, I engage in each treatment with curiosity in the efforts to understand the meaning behind symptoms and contextualize people within their nuanced and complex cultural context. I believe lasting change comes from the cultivation of an honest and authentic relationship rather than a narrow focus on only symptom reduction.
Beyond clinical work, I serve as part-time institute faculty at both the Counseling and Clinical Psychology Program at The Wright Institute where I teach classes on diagnosis, psychodynamic theory and intervention, group therapy, and lead case conferences. In addition to teaching, I provide clinical supervision, consultation, and mentorship to students and early career clinicians.
In my practice, I supervise associate marriage and family therapists and psychological associates who are aligned with my clinical approach and framework.
Associate Therapists
I supervise two associate-level clinicians who work within my private practice:
Victoria Chau, AMFT
Associate Marriage and Family Therapist 143625
I'm a depth-oriented psychotherapist specializing in helping adults define themselves, process trauma, and feel more connected in relationships with friends, family, and partners. I work with people who, despite their best efforts to avoid pain, feel lonely, rejected, and anxious that it will all collapse in on itself. I combine a psychodynamic lens with roots in multiculturalism to help clients get to a truer understanding of themselves, without ignoring the complicated cultural context we live in.
As a therapist, I am direct and honest; I show up as a real person, just as I ask my clients to do. I’m a good fit for people seeking help with big, ambiguous dread, and those who feel a general aversion to the current “wellness” trends. If you’d like to invest in a partnership focused on earning enough trust to do deep and meaningful work, I invite you to connect with me.

With over 15 years of experience in education, I have learned that life, at every age, is shaped by transitions that can stir uncertainty about who we are and what we want. After many years in the classroom, I obtained my Master’s in Counseling Psychology from The Wright Institute. I now work with adolescents, young adults, and adults to explore the space between where you are and where you hope to be, honoring your story along the way.
I believe therapy can be a space that holds both clarity and uncertainty and makes room for complexities of being human. A strong therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my process. As trust grows, I work with empathy and curiosity, gently identifying patterns that may be holding you back and helping you move through life with greater clarity, self-compassion, and ease.
In addition to private practice, I am a school-based therapist, working with both general education students and students with Individualized Education Plans as they navigate challenges in school and beyond. I look forward to getting to know you and doing this work together.
